Terms of Service

Last updated: July 16, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Muninn ("we", "us", or "our"), an AI-powered food ingredient analysis service available at unveilr.vercel.app and related mobile applications (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and handle your data.

About the Service

Muninn lets you scan a product barcode or photograph an ingredient label. The app reads each ingredient, looks it up in our database, and returns a safety score, a colour-coded per-ingredient breakdown, and personalised warnings based on health conditions you choose to share.

The Service is provided free of charge. It relies on third-party AI models (DeepSeek, Google Gemini) and the Open Food Facts open product database to generate results. The accuracy of results depends on the quality of those third-party data sources as well as the information you provide.

Important health notice

Health & AI Disclaimer

Muninn results are for informational purposes only. They are not medical advice, dietary advice, or a clinical assessment of any kind. Nothing in the Service should be taken as a substitute for the advice of a qualified doctor, dietitian, allergist, or other healthcare professional.

AI models can and do make mistakes. Ingredient classifications, tier assignments, and safety scores may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect for a specific ingredient or product. The tier system reflects general population risk data from published regulatory sources — individual responses to specific ingredients vary significantly.

If you are making a health decision, always verify against the physical product label and seek professional advice.

Pet safety feature. Muninn's optional pet safety check is AI-assisted analysis only and is not veterinary advice, a veterinary diagnosis, or a substitute for a licensed veterinarian. It does not establish a veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Results are occasionally spot-checked by us as a general quality measure, but no individual result is reviewed by a veterinarian or by us before being shown to you. The feature does not detect choking hazards, physical/mechanical risks (such as bones, pits, or packaging), or cross-contamination, and is not a substitute for AAFCO/FDA pet food approval status. If your pet has eaten something you are concerned about, contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal poison control service immediately — do not rely on Muninn in an emergency.

Risk classifications shown in the app (score, risk-category counts, and flagged ingredients) are generated automatically by AI models based on publicly available regulatory and scientific information and the data those models were trained on. No Muninn staff member selects, reviews, or approves any individual result before it is shown to a user.

Scoring is based solely on a product's ingredient list and does not take brand, manufacturer, or product name into account — two products with an identical ingredient list receive the same result regardless of brand. Muninn is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any regulatory or scientific body referenced in our classifications (including IARC, EFSA, or any government health authority).

Regulatory classifications and bans change over time, and our database may not immediately reflect the most recent update for every ingredient. We carry out periodic reviews to keep this information current, but some latency between a regulatory change and its reflection in the app should be expected.

We welcome corrections. If you believe any data shown about a product or ingredient is inaccurate — including brands and manufacturers who dispute a result about their own product — please use the "Report incorrect data" feature in the app or email muninn@krobim.com before pursuing any other action. We review and aim to resolve good-faith disputes promptly.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

Muninn is intended for use by adults and teenagers aged 13 and over. The "Babies" and "Children" health profile options are provided for parents and caregivers making food decisions on behalf of children — they are not intended for direct use by children. Muninn is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Signing in with a Google or Apple account is required to use the scanning and analysis features. Sign-in helps us verify real users, prevent abuse of the AI service, and sync your scan history across your devices. By signing in, you also agree to Google's or Apple's terms of service, as applicable to the method you choose.

User Conduct

By using the Service, you agree not to:

Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access.

User-Submitted Content

When you submit barcode scans, product photos, or ingredient text, you grant Muninn a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use that data solely to operate and improve the Service, including improving the accuracy of our ingredient database. This licence does not allow us to sell your data or share it with advertisers.

You represent that you have the right to submit any content you provide, and that your content does not infringe the intellectual property rights or privacy of any third party.

Any data used to improve our ingredient database is anonymised before use — it is not linked to your account, health profile, or device identity.

Intellectual Property

The Muninn name, logo, app interface, safety scoring algorithm, and tier system are proprietary to Muninn. Nothing in these Terms grants you any intellectual property rights in the Service.

Open Food Facts product data is used under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). Third-party AI APIs (Google Gemini, DeepSeek) are used under their respective terms of service. You may not use Muninn's brand assets without our prior written consent.

Product and brand names shown in scan results are the trademarks of their respective owners, used solely to identify the product being reviewed, and do not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by Muninn.

Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with the following third-party providers. Each operates under its own terms and privacy policy, which you should review independently.

We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of any third-party service provider, including any outages, data errors, or changes in their terms.

Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. How we collect, use, and protect your personal data is explained in full in our Privacy Policy.

Health profile data (the medical conditions you flag) is stored locally on your device only and is never sent to or stored on our servers. It is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose other than personalising your Muninn results.

Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be complete or current.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Muninn's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service — regardless of the legal theory — is limited to the greater of: (a) AUD $100, or (b) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (currently AUD $0 for the free Service).

Muninn is not liable for any of the following, whether arising from use of the Service or inability to use it:

Australian Consumer Law (ACL): Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other non-excludable statutory protection. Where the ACL applies and we are liable for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee that cannot be excluded, our liability is limited (where it is fair and reasonable to do so) to re-supplying the Service.

Indian Consumer Protection Act 2019: Users in India retain all rights and protections available under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 and related Indian law. These Terms do not override or diminish any mandatory rights under Indian law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Muninn and its operators, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:

Dispute Resolution

We want to resolve any dispute quickly and fairly. Before taking formal action, please contact us at muninn@krobim.com and give us a reasonable opportunity to address your concern.

  1. Good-faith negotiation (30 days). Either party may initiate dispute resolution by sending written notice to the other. Both parties agree to negotiate in good faith for at least 30 days before escalating.
  2. Mediation. If the dispute is not resolved through negotiation, either party may request non-binding mediation administered by the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA), with the seat in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Costs are shared equally unless the mediator directs otherwise.
  3. Courts. If mediation is unsuccessful or either party declines, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia — except that users in India may bring claims before courts of competent jurisdiction in India where mandatory local jurisdiction rules apply.

Individual claims only. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to resolve any dispute with Muninn on an individual basis only. You waive the right to participate in any class action, consolidated proceeding, or representative action against Muninn.

Small claims carve-out. Notwithstanding the above, either party may bring an individual claim in a small claims court or tribunal of competent jurisdiction without first going through the steps above.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles.

For users in India, where Indian law mandatorily applies (including the Information Technology Act 2000, the Consumer Protection Act 2019, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023), those provisions apply to the extent of any inconsistency with these Terms.

The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) does not apply to these Terms.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and show an in-app notice the next time you open the Service, unless a longer or different notice period is mandatorily required by applicable law in your jurisdiction.

Your continued use of the Service after being shown that notice (or, where no such notice is legally required, after the "Last updated" date) constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with a change, you should stop using the Service.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. If you have an account, you can permanently delete it — along with all associated server-side data — from the Account menu inside the app.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, are abusing the Service, or if we are required to do so by law. In serious cases (for example, security threats or illegal activity), we may act without prior notice.

On termination: your server-side scan history and health profile are deleted. Data stored locally on your device (IndexedDB, localStorage) is not affected and remains on your device until you clear your browser data.

Sections 3 (Health & AI Disclaimer), 7 (Intellectual Property), 10 (Limitation of Liability), 11 (Indemnification), 12 (Dispute Resolution), and 16 (General Provisions) survive termination of these Terms.
