Who we are

Muninn is operated by Shonny Kurian Mathew, an individual based in Westmead, New South Wales, Australia ("we", "us", or "our").

Muninn is an AI-powered food ingredient analysis application. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or build profiles for marketing purposes.

This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service, which contains the health and AI disclaimer and liability limitations that apply to your use of the app.

Information we collect

Health information notice: Some information you provide — such as medical conditions, pregnancy status, or dietary restrictions — is classified as sensitive health information under Australian law and as special category data under the GDPR. Providing this information is entirely voluntary. By entering health conditions into your profile, you give us your explicit, freely given consent to use that information solely to personalise the safety warnings shown to you. You can delete this information at any time from your profile settings.

Why we process your data (lawful bases)

For users in the EU/EEA, we rely on the following legal bases under GDPR Article 6 (and Article 9 for health data):

Data Legal basis
Account info (Google or Apple), scan history, nickname Contract — necessary to provide the account-based features you signed up for
Health profile (conditions) Device-local only — never processed on our servers. Stored in your browser/app's IndexedDB. No server-side legal basis required. Delete anytime by clearing your profile.
Device ID, server logs, IP address Legitimate interests — preventing abuse, rate-limiting, and debugging. Our legitimate interest does not override your privacy rights for this low-sensitivity data.
Ingredient photos (OCR) Contract — necessary to deliver the core OCR analysis feature you requested

For Australian users, we collect personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Health information is collected with your explicit consent under APP 3.3.

How we use your information

We do not use your data to train AI models. We do not use your health data for any purpose other than displaying warnings to you.

Third-party services & international data transfers

Muninn uses the following services to operate. Each receives only the minimum data needed for its function. Your data may be transferred to and processed in the countries shown below.

For EU/EEA users: transfers to the United States rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent safeguards maintained by each provider. The transfer to DeepSeek involves only non-personal ingredient vocabulary data — no user identifiers or health information are ever sent to DeepSeek.

Data security

No system is 100% secure. If you discover a vulnerability, please contact us at muninn@krobim.com before public disclosure.

Analytics and tracking

We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Meta Pixel, or any other third-party analytics or advertising SDK. We do not place tracking cookies of any kind. The only data stored in your browser is:

You can clear all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for unveilr.vercel.app.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing platforms.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell or share your personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. No opt-out mechanism is needed because we do not engage in such sales or sharing.

Your data is shared only with the third-party services listed above, and only to the extent necessary to operate the app. If we are ever required to disclose your data by law or court order, we will notify you unless prohibited from doing so.

Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Account menu inside Muninn. Deletion immediately and permanently removes your scan history, nickname, and all other server-held personal data. Your health profile (conditions) is stored on your device only and is not affected by account deletion — to remove it, clear the app's local data or uninstall the app. This cannot be undone. Server logs that include your IP address are purged on their 30-day cycle regardless of account deletion.

If you open Muninn without signing in, no personal data is stored on our servers — scanning and analysis require sign-in.

Children's privacy

Muninn is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users aged 13–17 may use the app with parental consent, as described in our Terms of Service.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Muninn, please contact us immediately at muninn@krobim.com and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes — changes that affect how we use your personal data or your rights — we will provide at least 14 days' advance notice via email (for signed-in users) or via a prominent in-app notice before the change takes effect.

Non-material changes (corrections, clarifications, new third-party service disclosures that do not change data use) will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a material change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. For EU users, nothing in this policy limits your rights under the GDPR or the jurisdiction of your local supervisory authority. For Indian users, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 applies to the extent mandatorily applicable.
